In an interview with Entertainment Weekly published Friday, actor Dax Shepard discussed his new film project, an R-rated action-comedy rebooting the beloved 1970s “CHiPs” TV show.
Screenwriter, director and co-star Dax Shepard talked about next spring’s release with Entertainment Weekly, explaining he was going for an buddy cop action comedy in the vain of the “Bad Boys” and “Lethan Weapon” franchises.
Mr. Shepard plays Jon Baker and Michael Peña plays his partner, Frank “Ponch” Poncherello, an undercover FBI agent embedded in the Highway Patrol to root out corruption in the force, a fresh twist of an origin story.
Another departure from the ’70s family-hour drama? It’s not family friendly.
“There’s female nudity. There’s more me nudity than probably any other nudity,” Mr. Shepard told Entertainment Weekly. “And then yeah, there’s a lot of adult material and sexual stuff and naughty language.”
“CHiPs” hits movie theaters in the United States on March 24, 2017.
