87-year-old Fla. man hit in face during burglary dies

DELAND, Fla. (AP) - An 87-year-old Florida man who was hit in the face during a burglary has died.

The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement Friday that they were still looking for the suspect who struggled with Carl Husfeld, causing him to be hit in the face by a door during a burglary at his DeLand, Florida home earlier this month.

Husfled started bleeding profusely from the nose and the man escaped.

Husfled was taken to a hospital where he was treated for several fractures to bones in his face.

He was taken off life support on Thursday.
