BALTIMORE (AP) - Maryland health officials say a woman died of hypothermia in Baltimore last week.

The death was the first in the state this season attributed to cold weather. Last winter, 20 people died of hypothermia.

The Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene says the state Medical Examiner’s office confirmed the cause of death. No further details will be released about the patient to protect her privacy.

Hypothermia occurs when a person’s body temperature drops below 95 degrees Fahrenheit.
