ADDISON, Vt. (AP) - A boil water notice remains in effect in three Addison County towns while water testing is being conducted for possible contamination.

Vermont Public Radio reports (https://bit.ly/2h1WfXp) that the boil water warning was announced Monday afternoon for the 1,600 customers of Tri-Town water in Addison, Bridport, and Shoreham following two leaks and an outage that left the water system vulnerable to possible groundwater contamination.

Officials at Tri-Town water say it’s unknown what caused the leaks.

The state requested that a precautionary boil water notice be issued on Monday afternoon.

Water testing is being conducted to look for the presence of fecal coliform and E. coli.
