ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) - North Texas police say a veteran detective has resigned following allegations she closed child-abuse cases without properly investigating them.
Arlington police Lt. Christopher Cook confirmed to KTVT-TV (https://cbsloc.al/2hA2ntO ) that the department is investigating the cases handled by the detective.
Cook did not identify the detective and it wasn’t clear when she resigned. Cook says she was promoted to sergeant before the allegations came to light.
He says the department has reviewed cases handled by the detective and found at least one that wasn’t properly investigated.
A veteran detective in nearby Fort Worth was fired in July after authorities there determined he mishandled sexual-assault investigations, including one in which he failed to arrest a registered sex offender linked to the rape of a young girl.
