BREMERTON, Wash. (AP) - Officials say a state ferry turned around and went back to Seattle after an unruly passenger became verbally combative.

KOMO-TV reports (https://goo.gl/CRdRrx ) the captain of a Bremerton-bound ferry aborted the 5:40 p.m. sailing Sunday after the passenger allegedly stole food, appeared drunk and was verbally combative with passengers and staff.

Washington State Ferries spokesman Ian Sterling says returning to the dock is rare but that the captain had had enough.

Sterling says 34 incidents involving behavior from fighting to verbal abuse to physical attacks have been recorded in the past decade.

Sgt. Kyle Smith of the Washington State Patrol said troopers took the man off the boat, but he was not arrested. He was told to stay off of state ferry property for 60 days.
