WAYNESBURG, Pa. (AP) - Authorities say some people were forced from their homes and others pulled from stranded vehicles amid flooding in southwestern Pennsylvania, but no injuries were reported.
Greg Leathers, director of the Greene County emergency management office, said overnight rain caused creeks and tributaries to overflow.
Emergency dispatchers started getting calls at about 4:30 a.m. Sunday, with the worst flooding reported in Waynesburg and the Center Township village of Rogersville.
Leathers said at least a dozen homes were evacuated and cars were stuck in the road by rising waters. Some state roads and side roads were closed.
Leathers said at about 1 p.m. Sunday that he hoped waters had crested, but cleanup was expected to continue through the evening.
Rains also flooded basements and closed roads in Cambria, Indiana and Somerset counties.
