Rian Johnson, the director for the second installment of the new “Star Wars” trilogy, is at work editing the film, the Hollywood Reporter said Tuesday, citing an Instagram photo the filmmaker posted recently.

“Johnson will start to put together an initial cut of Episode VIII on the heels of the second trailer release for Rogue One: the first stand-alone live-action film in the Star Wars canon,” the Reporter explained.

“Rogue One” hits theaters on Dec. 16.

Of course, no “Star Wars” flick, or even trailer, for that matter, is complete without a John Williams score. “The 84-year-old composer … told a crowd at the Tanglewood Music Center in Massachusetts on Saturday that he would begin work on Episode VIII in a few weeks.”

“Star Wars: Episode VIII” is set to release in theaters on Dec. 15, 2017, two days before Mr. Johnson’s 44th birthday.
