WASHINGTON (AP) — District of Columbia police say they’ve arrested a 27-year-old man in the fatal shooting of a 55-year-old man in northwest Washington.

Police say Dejuan Etheridge has been charged with first-degree murder in the slaying of Uyer Hooper.

The shooting occurred after 3 a.m. Sunday in the Takoma neighborhood. Hooper was taken to a hospital, where he died. Another man was also shot and was taken to a hospital in a private vehicle. Police say his injuries were not life-threatening.



The slaying is the 107th in the nation’s capital this year. There were 105 homicides in all of 2014.

Police have not disclosed a motive for the slaying.
