WASHINGTON — The Justice Department has awarded Washington a $1 million grant to expand the police department’s body worn camera program.
Mayor Muriel Bowser announced the grant on Friday. She has proposed equipping 2,800 officers who regularly interact with the public with cameras.
The department has already deployed 400 body cameras in the 5th and 7th Police Districts.
