When residents in an Ohio community saw a woman’s body hanging from a neighbor’s fence, they assumed it was just a Halloween decoration, only to later find out that the body was real.

Construction workers in Chillicothe called police when they realized the body hanging from a fence was actually a real woman and not just a Halloween prank as some neighbors thought, Cincinnati news station WKRC reported.

Tammy Dixon told reporters she could not believe what she was seeing when she realized the body was real.

“Just put my hands over my face and said, ’This can’t be happening here, it’s not real, and I just didn’t see what I thought I saw,’ ” she said.

Her body dangled as her sleeve was caught high on the fence near a power station. Police said the woman had obvious injuries but said her body had not been mutilated.

Police suspect the woman was trying to climb the fence and are investigating the case as a homicide. Police found identification at the scene but said they are not releasing the woman’s name until after an autopsy that is scheduled for tomorrow.

The gruesome news follows the deaths of four other women in the Ohio town, where some suspect a serial killer may be at work.

Detective have not yet said whether the latest death is related to the unsolved deaths of the four other women and disappearances of two others in Ross County in the last 18 months.
