President Obama said Monday the U.S. is taking “very seriously” the shooting deaths of two U.S. officers by someone dressed in a military uniform at a training facility in Jordan.
“We’ll be working closely with the Jordanians to determine exactly what happened,” Mr. Obama told reporters in the Oval Office during a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
During his statement to reporters, Mr. Obama said someone dressed in a military uniform carried out the attack. The two Americans were reportedly part of a State Department police training program. A South African citizen also was shot dead.
Mr. Netanyahu gave his condolences.
“We’re with you. We’re with each other in more ways than one,” Mr. Netanyahu said.
A Jordanian government spokesman told the state news agency Petra that two Americans and four Jordanians were wounded in Monday’s shooting at the police training center on the outskirts of the Jordanian capital, adding that one of the wounded is in critical condition.
