Four people including a child were killed and 14 people have been transported to hospitals following a motor vehicle accident Sunday afternoon in Chillum, Maryland.

Mark Brady of the Prince George’s County Fire/EMS Department reported the four fatalities in a 6:13 p.m. tweet, adding that 11 people — six adults and five children — had been transported to hospitals, some with life-threatening injuries.

Garrett Haake of WUSA-9 tweeted just after 7:30 p.m. that 14 people had been transported to hospitals, and that eight were in critical condition.

The crash occurred on the 2600 block of Chillum Road. CBS Baltimore, citing Mr. Brady, reported that a pickup truck — which had just been involved in an accident nearby — struck a passenger van with its tire on fire, igniting the van.
