Businessman Donald J. Trump is poking fun at Macy’s recent financial struggles, suggesting the department store chain is losing ground because of its decision to stop selling his ties and other Trump apparel.

“Wow, @Macys shares are down more than 40% this year,” Mr. Trump said on Twitter Monday. “I never knew my ties & shirts not being sold their would have such a big impact!”

Mr. Trump and Macy’s severed their business relationship over the summer after the retailer was pressured to dump the New York billionaire because of controversial remarks he made about immigrants.

Mr. Trump said at the time that he cut ties with Macy’s and not the other way around. The Real Clear Politics average of national polls shows Mr. Trump leading the GOP nomination race.
