COLLEGE PARK — Brene Moseley had 24 points and 10 assists for No. 9 Maryland, which opened its season with a 102-53 rout of UMass-Lowell on Saturday.
Shatori Walker-Kimbrough added 22 points, including 20 before halftime for the Terrapins, who are coming off the school’s first back-to-back appearances in the Final Four.
Freshman Kiah Gillespie scored 15 points as Maryland surpassed 100-point mark for a second consecutive season opener.
Nicole Hayner had 15 points to lead UMass-Lowell. Kayla Gibbs scored 12 points and Lindsey Doucette added 10.

Walker-Kimbrough scored 15 of Maryland’s first 24 points, including a 3-pointer, a baseline jumper and a putback on consecutive possessions that fueled a 22-0 run for a 30-5 lead.
The lead grew to 40 points when Moseley’s 3-pointer from the left wing pushed it to 56-16 late in the second quarter.
In the third, Walker-Kimbrough’s steal and no-look feed set up Moseley’s layup to make it 76-26.
