New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie called on his GOP presidential rivals in Tuesday’s undercard debate to train their fire on Hillary Clinton - not fellow Republicans.
The comment came in response to Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal’s warning about electing another big government Republican to The White House and said that former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee watched over a growth in spending and his state’s workforce - a charge that Mr. Huckabee refuted.
“The bottom line is believe me, Hillary Clinton is coming for your wallet everybody - don’t worry about Huckabee or Jindal, worry about her,” Mr. Christie said.
Mr. Christie and Mr. Huckabee were relegated to the undercard debate Tuesday along with former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum and Mr. Jindal.
Mr. Christie warned that she would drown the county in debt.
“She is the real adversary tonight and we better stay focused as Republicans on her,” Mr. Christie said.
It marked the first time during the nomination race that Mr. Christie and Mr. Huckabee failed to qualify for the prime time debate, which is scheduled to begin at 9 p.m. EST and is being limited to eight candidates that have collected at least 2.5 percent based on four recent national polls.
