Six-foot alligator attacks horse in Odessa pasture

ODESSA, Fla. (AP) - Authorities say a six-foot alligator attacked and injured a horse in a Tampa Bay-area pasture.

Deputies were dispatched to Odessa Thursday evening. When they arrived, they found gator in a pasture and its victim: a horse with bite marks on one of its legs.

Deputies contained the alligator and notified the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, which sent a licensed trapper to the home.

Authorities said the horse owner will seek private medical help for the animal.
