A sailor assigned to a special operations unit died Wednesday from injuries sustained during parachute training.

The sailor, who served with a West Coast-based Naval Special Warfare unit, died after being injured during jump training in Perris, California, according to a statement from Naval Special Warfare Group One.

The Navy has not yet released the identity of the sailor pending notification of the sailor’s family, the release said.
