President Obama said he’s “embarrassed” for the Republican senators who sent a letter to the leaders of Iran warning them not to make a nuclear deal with him.
“I’m embarrassed for them,” Mr. Obama said in an interview with Vice News. “For them to address a letter to the ayatollah, who they claim is our mortal enemy, and their basic argument to them is, ’Don’t deal with our president because you can’t trust him to follow through on an agreement,’ that’s close to unprecedented.”
Forty-seven Republicans signed the letter this week sent by Sen. Tom Cotton of Arkansas, aimed at derailing a potential nuclear deal with Iran. The letter warned Iranian leaders that any permanent deal must have congressional approval, rather than just Mr. Obama’s support.
Vice News sent out a portion of their interview with Mr. Obama Friday; the full interview will be broadcast Monday.
