Famed author Terry Pratchett passed away Thursday at the age of 66 after a battle with Alzheimer’s, his publisher said.

Transworld Publishers said that he died “with his cat sleeping on his bed surrounded by his family.” Mr. Pratchett had been battling a rare form of early onset Alzheimer’s.

He is best known as the author of the “Discworld” series and has published more than 70 books.
