German philosopher Arthur Schopenhauer and Russian philosopher Leo Tolstoy had mega-church pastors like Creflo Dollar in mind. Schopenhauer said, “The physician sees all the weakness of mankind; the lawyer all the wickedness, the theologian all the stupidity.”

Pastor Dollar lusted for a $65-million luxury Gulfstream G650 jet. He asked his 200,000 gullible church followers to fund this object of his desire. In cult-like obedience they handed over their money to Mr. Dollar, who then purchased the jet.

Tolstoy said, “I sit on a man’s back choking him and making him carry me, and yet assure myself and others that I am very sorry for him and wish to ease his lot by all possible means — except by getting off his back.”

That is the mindset of mega-church pastors like Creflo Dollar, who sit on the backs of their church followers, living the words of Tolstoy.
