President Obama diverted from the script Wednesday during a health care rally in Tennessee, pausing to take a few questions from the audience.
That’s when Davy Crockett showed up.
“Is your name really Davy Crockett?” Mr. Obama asked the questioner.
Mr. Crockett said yes, although his first name is technically “James.”
The president hummed some of the TV show’s theme song and inquired about Mr. Crockett’s beaver cap.
Mr. Crockett said he had one at home.
The quirky exchange came halfway into Mr. Obama’s town-hall style exchange with questioners at Taylor Stratton Elementary School in Nashville.
While some folks wanted to push Tennessee’s leaders into expanding Medicaid, Mr. Crockett asked if the president could expedite his request for Social Security benefits. So far, he’d been caught up in red tape.
Mr. Obama promised to get Mr. Crockett’s details and look into it.
