Anne Arundel County fire officials said they expect to find two more bodies in the rubble of a 16,000-square-foot Annapolis mansion that burned down in the early hours of Monday morning.
Four bodies have been recovered from the rubble so far, and crews are working under the assumption that there are still two individuals unaccounted for, said Capt. Russ Davies, Anne Arundel County Fire Department spokesman.
The house was owned by Don and Sandy Pyle, and neighbors reported it was likely their four grandchildren were staying in the home with them during the long Martin Luther King Jr. holiday weekend.
Capt. Davies said the department is not releasing any information about the bodies that have been recovered so far. They’ve been taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for identification.
On Thursday, ScienceLogic, the software firm Mr. Pyle worked for, released a statement morning his loss.
“Don was widely known for his vivacious spirit, thirst for life and love of family,” a statement from the company said. “A philanthropist, avid fisherman and doting grandfather, Don found true happiness when doing for others and surrounded by people he loved.”
ScienceLogic, which primarily creates software that enables users to track their computer networks, has several contracts with the federal government. Before joining the company, Mr. Pyle served as CEO of several tech start-up firms.
