The FBI announced a $3 million reward Tuesday for one of its most wanted cybercriminals, the largest amount the agency has ever offered for cybercrime, officials said.

Evgeniy Mikhailovich Bogachev, 32, is wanted for his involvement with Game Over Zeus, malicious software the FBI believes was used to infect more than one million computers and steal more than $100 million.

Mr. Bogachev is currently believed to be in Russia. Officials said the offers of rewards have been successful in the past for capturing international cybercriminals and returning them to the U.S.

Mr. Bogachev was charged in Omaha, Nebraska, in 2012 and in Pittsburgh in 2014 with a list of crimes related to his cyber activities, including hacking, bank fraud and money laundering.
