Before the Oscars even began Sunday night, the Twitterverse was lighting up over “Fifty Shades of Grey” star Dakota Johnson and her mother, actress Melanie Griffith, who gave an awesomely awkward interview that only moms and daughters can pull off.
An ABC reporter asked Ms. Griffith, who joined her daughter on the red carpet Sunday night, if she had seen the raunchy film that features her daughter in several sex scenes.
“No,” Ms. Griffith, 57, said. “I think that would be strange.”
“She’s a really good actress,” she added. “I don’t need to see that to know how good she is.”
Ms. Johnson snapped back, “All right! You don’t have to see it. Jesus Christ.”
“I’m like, you can see it,” the 25-year-old insisted. “It’s acting! … It’s a movie, she knows that.”
Ms. Griffith finally relented: “If she tells me to see it, I’ll see it.”
