OPINION:
Several years ago in an Internet commentary many people were complaining about God being mentioned as our Creator in a Texas textbook. Based on their belief that we all evolved, I wrote and asked which evolved first — male or female? I was called a Neanderthal and a member of the flat earth society who didn’t believe planes could fly and other names.
The article, “Darwin Day a win for atheists” (Web, Feb. 12), was a reminder I have never received an answer from an evolutionist as to how the intricately and intelligently designed complex human reproductive process evolved.
Questions that need answering: How did the human male and female lineage start? Were they the only evolutionary lines? How was reproduction started? How did both the male and female lineage get started at the same time? How and when did they begin to interact and reproduce? How and when did resources (e.g. food) necessary to maintain life evolve? What did the first human beings consume? When did love start playing a part in human reproduction?
Scientists tell us the probability that our enormous and complicated universe was created by chance is astronomical, beyond rational to consider. The same is true that we are here just by chance.
On the other hand we have a history in the Bible of God’s creation of the universe and His creation of and interaction with mankind, even to sending His Son to redeem us, die for us, and be raised from the dead.
One of the ways God continues to interact with mankind is through miracles; e.g., the Eucharist; the 500-year old tilma at Guadalupe, Mexico which is still intact with celestial intricacies; the amazing event at Fatima, Portugal where the sun was seen hurtling toward the earth by tens of thousands; the incorruptible bodies of saints and the continuing healings for which there is no medical explanation.
I find it much more reasonable to believe in God as our Creator than to believe the universe, the Earth and its inhabitants evolved without a deity’s design.
