Krispy Kreme has issued an apology after a store in Hull, England, advertised a promotion for its Krispy Kreme Klub customers, calling it “KKK Wednesday.”

“We do believe this was a completely unintentional oversight on the part of our longtime franchise partners in the U.K.,” company spokeswoman Lafeea Watson said in a statement, USA Today reported.

The promotion was meant to give customers a chance to come into the store this Wednesday and decorate doughnuts, but instead it reminded Brits of the infamous United States-based white supremacist group. Photos of the promotion went viral on social media after it was posted on the company’s United Kingdom Facebook page.

“We are truly sorry for any inconvenience or offense this misstep may have caused our fans,” the statement said, noting that the Hull location has offered assurances that it would be “taking greater precautions with their publicity materials in the future,” USA Today reported.

Ms. Watson said the Krispy Kreme Klub was created by the Hull location and designed as a promotion for that store only.
