Parents are livid after a “Fifty Shades of Grey” word search puzzle was handed to middle school students in Pennsylvania.
Terms such as “paddling,” “erotic,” “leather cuffs,” “bondage” and others were included in the puzzle, which was given to students at a Monessen middle school.
School district officials are now investigating how the worksheet was given to students, although they would not say whether any teachers or staff members were suspended or disciplined, a local ABC affiliate reported Wednesday.
One parent tried to tape school board members during a meeting Tuesday night but was not permitted to record his conversation.
“I wanted to record the conversation because a lot of parents had questions about it, and I was denied that,” James Carter said, The Associated Press reported.
School board member Roberta Bergstedt sent the local station an email saying the puzzle “was a huge but unintentional error and collected from the five students involved as soon as it was realized.”
“Fifty Shades of Grey,” the movie based on the best-selling novel by EL James, opens Friday. It features actor Jamie Dornan as Christian Grey, a billionaire who engages in bondage, sadism and masochism.
