TRENTON, N.J. (AP) — A federal appeals court has upheld the corruption convictions of the former mayor of Trenton, New Jersey.
The court found no grounds to reverse 49-year-old Tony Mack’s 2014 convictions, NJ.com reported.
Mack is serving a 58-month term at a West Virginia prison. He’s scheduled to be released from federal custody in late 2018. A jury found him guilty of bribery, fraud and extortion while mayor of Trenton. He was busted as part of a government sting.
The appeals court also upheld the conviction of his brother, Ralphiel Mack. Prosecutors say he participated in a scheme to take bribes in exchange for helping get approvals for parking garage developers.
Tony Mack’s lawyer didn’t immediately return a message Thursday, and Ralphiel Mack’s attorney declined to comment Thursday.
