LSU offensive lineman La’el Collins, a potential first-round pick in Thursday night’s NFL draft, is being sought for questioning in the shooting death of a pregnant woman believed to be his former girlfriend, Yahoo! Sports reports.
Collins, who is currently in Chicago for the draft, is not considered a suspect in the death of Brittany Mills, 29, but police want to see if he can assist in the investigation.
Mills’ baby is receiving medical treatment. It is not clear if Collins is the father of the baby.
Collins’ attorney, Jim Boren, said Collins has been in constant contact with the lead detective on the case.
The Baton Rouge Advocate reported that investigators believe Mills was shot multiple times after she opened the door of her home to someone asking to use her car and she refused.
