Listed near the top of the Most Influential Books of All Time, “Atlas Shrugged” has influenced many of the great thinkers, patriots and politicians of our time.
Ayn Rand’s 1957 masterpiece is one of the greatest books ever written on philosophy, money and government, and it predicted the mess we are in now more than 50 years later.
It’s a book that has seen Hollywood’s interest ebb and flow due to the political whims and winds of the time. Even Angelina Jolie, at one time, was slated to play the book’s iconic heroine, Dagny Taggart.
Through all the difficulties of filming a book that has 1,088 pages and 645,000 words, Parts I and II have done an excellent job of telling the story of government overreach, looters, moochers and the importance of man’s mind.
When government regulations become too great and the burden of providing for those “in need” becomes too much, the great entrepreneurs and thinkers of the world go on strike, in an effort to bring a catastrophic end to the ways of the crippling government.
In the final installment, “Atlas Shrugged: Who Is John Galt?” (opening Sept. 12), we meet the man behind the strike and find out his reason for trying to bring the world to its knees.
Even if you have neither read the book nor seen the previous films (both available on Netflix and iTunes), “Atlas Shrugged: Who Is John Galt?” stands well on its own, with an excellent cast and a fast-paced, well-acted and -directed film. (Speaking of great acting, look for yours truly as a government official during the big John Galt speech. I am preparing my tuxedo for Oscar night right now. Other fun cameos include Matt Kibbe of FreedomWorks, Grover Norquist of Americans for Tax Reform, Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck, talk-radio host Phil Valentine and other movers and shakers in the conservative/libertarian movement.)
In this exclusive video shot Saturday night at the world premiere in Las Vegas, meet Kristoffer Polaha, a fabulous actor, a great guy and someone who I believe we will be seeing great things from. He’s versatile, personable and gives John Galt the powerful presence all “Atlas Shrugged” fans will demand.
Coming in the next few days, keep watching The Rusty Humphries Rebellion for my exclusive interviews with Laura Regan, the beautiful actress playing Dagny Taggart, as well as the director and producers that brought this monumental work to the big screen.
Until next time my brothers and sisters … This is The Rusty Humphries Rebellion.
