The Senate race in Georgia — one of the races that could decide which party controls the Senate next session — is in a virtual tie, according to a new poll.
The SurveyUSA poll released Wednesday found that 46 percent of likely voters would choose Republican David Purdue, while 45 percent would vote for Democrat Michelle Nunn, though this falls within the margin of error of 4.3 percent, showing how close the race is.
The Libertarian candidate, Amanda Swafford, got 4 percent of likely voters, the poll said. Only 6 percent of those polled are still undecided.
The poll results come from telephone interviews with 550 likely voters in Georgia from Sept. 19-22. The margin of error is 4.3 percent.
