LAS VEGAS (AP) — A major runway at McCarran International Airport is getting an overhaul with help from the federal government.

Congresswoman Dina Titus announced this week that the Las Vegas airport had landed $26 million that will fund the two-phase reconstruction project.

Titus called the airport central to southern Nevada’s economic future and said the improvements will help it keep pace with rising passenger demand.

McCarran sees nearly 20 million passengers each year.
