Actress Elizabeth Pena, who died Oct. 14 in Los Angeles, passed away due to complications of alcohol abuse, TMZ is reporting.
According to the death certificate, the 55-year-old suffered severe cirrhosis of the liver “due to alcohol,” which intensified in the days before her death last week. Hours before passing, Pena experienced acute gastrointestinal bleeding, according to TMZ.
Pena starred in such films as “La Bamba” and “Jacob’s Ladder.” She had also recently appeared on the hit television show “Modern Family.”
At the time of her death, no cause of death was immediately reported.
