ANALYSIS/OPINION:

Democratic Senate hopeful Alison Lundergan Grimes, Kentucky’s secretary of state, has been making a lot of noise about the “sanctity of the ballot box” as she continues to dodge the question of whether or not she voted for President Obama.

The first denial came in an interview with The Courier-Journal last week, The second came in Monday’s debate with Republican Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell.

“And as secretary of state, the chief election official, I’m tasked with overseeing and making sure we are enforcing all of our election laws,” Ms. Grimes declared with righteous zeal.

Given that Ms. Grimes was at both the 2008 and 2012 Democratic National Conventions, observers can probably make an educated guess where her vote went.

Her “sanctity” defense has a little less than a week to be explicitly revealed as nonsense. The Lexington Herald-Leader reported that in a forthcoming documentary, Ms. Grimes admits she “got a chance though to vote for Secretary (Hillary) Clinton in 2008.”

The Kentucky Educational Television documentary, “Ballot Bomb,” is set to premiere on Oct. 20, giving Ms. Grimes a few more days to wage her crusade for the sacred privacy of the ballot box.
