Even while doing a little holiday shopping, President Obama can’t escape questions about foreign policy and national security.

While shopping with his daughters Saturday at Politics and Prose bookstore in Washington, D.C., the president was asked about his plans for the Guantanamo Bay detention facility, which he has vowed to close.

“We’re working on it. Any other issues?” he responded, according to reporters traveling with the president.

Mr. Obama and his daughters, Sasha and Malia, visited the store as part of “Small Business Saturday,” an annual event encouraging Americans to support local businesses.

Before checking out, the president also picked up and held a baby, leading to applause from a crowd assembled inside the store.

“Do I get a discount for that?” Mr. Obama asked.
