ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) — Masterpieces from the Detroit Institute of Arts are hitting the trail - the Huron River Trail, to be exact.
The Detroit museum is working with the Huron River Watershed Council to host exhibitions along several riverfront towns, including Ann Arbor, Dexter and Milford. The outdoor staging of reproductions of paintings is part of the DIA’s Inside/Out project.
The museum announced this week that more than 80 reproductions will be in 10 communities from April to July and 10 others from August to September. Eight will be participating for the first time, including Detroit’s Midtown area, Flat Rock, Memphis and White Lake.
The project has been in more than 100 communities during the past five years. The DIA works with them to plan corresponding activities such as tours, talks and festivals.
