No presidential contender is declaring for certain this early in the game on whether or not they’re in or out for 2016.
But if Texas Gov. Rick Perry doesn’t end up running, it sounds like he’s at least planning to visit the early presidential primary state of South Carolina again.
“I’ve got about 60 more days of being the governor of the state of Texas and then I’m going to do something different,” he said Tuesday at an event sponsored by the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce, the Sun News reported. “You’ll see me again.”
Earlier this week, Mr. Perry was in New Hampshire and said in the first-in-the-nation primary state that a decision on a possible bid in 2016 isn’t going to come until at least sometime in the spring.
He’s also barnstormed Iowa and boosted Republican candidates there through his political action committee as he tries lay the groundwork for a comeback from his 2012 presidential run, when he dropped out soon after finishing fifth in the Iowa caucuses and sixth in the New Hampshire GOP primary.
