PORTALES, N.M. (AP) - A two-star general is scheduled to be the commencement speaker for Eastern New Mexico University’s graduation ceremonies.
The Portales News-Tribune reports (https://goo.gl/zInP21) that Maj. Gen. Dempsey Kee will address students Saturday and is the highest ranking military officer to graduate from the school.
Officials say he served in the U.S. Army for 37 years.
Kee grew up in Odessa, Texas, and his military career began in 1975 at ENMU with his participation in the ROTC program.
President Barack Obama recently awarded Kee the Distinguished Service Medal.
