MARION, Ill. (AP) - Forecasters say large hail and damaging winds could hit parts of southern Illinois as a storm system moves across the nation’s midsection.

The National Weather Service says a cold front moving across Illinois will destabilize the atmosphere on Friday afternoon and evening.

The National Storm Prediction Center says there’s a slight chance of severe weather in southern and central Illinois, along with portions of Texas, Arkansas, Missouri and Indiana and several other states.
