TUPELO, Miss. (AP) - A former North Lee County Water Association employee is suing the water provider.

Sonny Noble, 31, filed suit Thursday against the association and its manager, Jim Banker. Noble, formerly an outside maintenance supervisor, was fired after providing a copy of the association’s 2013 audit to a newspaper

The Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal reports (https://bit.ly/1ox8FVB) Lee is seeking compensation for lost wages, mental anxiety and damage to his reputation in the Lee County Circuit Court suit.

Banker fired Noble the same day that the newspaper published a story about the audit. It showed the association wasn’t filing reports required under a federal loan, had record-keeping problems, and couldn’t account for about $14,000.

North Lee board President Terry Anderson and attorney Bill Beasley did not respond to requests for comment Thursday.
