NEW YORK (AP) - Mayor Bill de Blasio wants to invest $41 billion over 10 years to build or preserve 200,000 units of affordable housing.

It’s part of the executive budget proposal released Thursday.

De Blasio says his affordable housing plan would also create about 194,000 construction jobs and over 7,000 permanent jobs.

His executive budget also provides another $70 million to the city’s housing authority to address a repair backlog and beef up security. That’s on top of $52.5 million in relief that was outlined in the preliminary budget.
