ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - A parolee who fired a bullet through a door that struck another man in the neck has been convicted of felony assault and weapons misconduct.

KTUU-TV (https://bit.ly/Rpbq0q) reports 30-year-old Elliott Hernandez was convicted Wednesday in Anchorage Superior Court and faces a minimum of 15 to 20 years in prison.

A statement by Deputy District Attorney Clint Campion says Hernandez in January 2013 became upset while visiting the apartment of an acquaintance and pulled out a handgun.

He pointed the gun at the other man and threated to shoot him.

Campion says Hernandez left the apartment, but as he did so, a third man slammed the door. Campion says that angered Hernandez and he fired his 9mm handgun through the door.

Hernandez was arrested the next day.

The shooting victim recovered.
