RUSTON, La. (AP) - Louisiana Tech has a new dean of its College of Engineering and Science.

The university says Dr. Hisham Hegab, a professor of mechanical, nanosystems and cyber engineering, was named to the post earlier this week. Effective July 1 and pending approval from the University of Louisiana System’s Board of Supervisors, Hegab will take over for Dr. Stan Napper who became vice president for research and development last July.

Hegab served as the college’s interim dean for the 2013-14 academic year. During that time, he helped successfully conclude the college’s campaign for a new Integrated Engineering and Science Education building that doubles classroom space and holds a new 250-seat auditorium.

He also has served as an academic director for the computer science, electrical engineering, electrical engineering technology and nanosystems engineering programs.
