GRAND BLANC TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - Authorities in the Flint area say lightning strikes are to blame for several fires, including one that destroyed a book and music store.

Meanwhile, flooding after storms that moved through Michigan closed roads and affected a mobile home community in Macomb County’s Chesterfield Township on Thursday morning.

The Flint Journal reports fire crews responded about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday to Jellybean’s in Genesee County’s Grand Blanc Township. Fire Chief James Harmes says lightning hit the roof of the store, causing the fire, and it spread through the building.

No injuries were reported.

Harmes says around the same time as the fire at Jellybean’s another call for a lightning strike went out for a home in the area.

National Weather Service meteorologist Dan Thompson says lighting strikes also left some trees scorched.
