ABERDEEN, S.D. (AP) - A 14-piece trumpet and rhythm section group from Northern State University has been invited to perform at the International Trumpet Guild Conference later this month.

Dominant 7 will play in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, May 20-24. The conference features dozens of internationally renowned artists and composers and numerous college ensembles.

Dr. Grant Manhart, NSU professor of high brass and jazz studies, said the group was invited “due to its unique style, arrangements and performance ability.”

Dominant 7 has performed three times since 2006 at ITG conferences in Glassboro, New Jersey; Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; and Minneapolis, Minnesota.

The ITG is a nonprofit organization with 5,000 members, including amateur and professional trumpeters. This year marks the 39th annual conference.
