TWISP, Wash. (AP) - The Transportation Department says crews expect to reopen the North Cascades Highway at noon on Thursday.

A 37-mile section of Highway 20 has been closed by winter snow since Dec. 3.

Crews started clearing the highway this spring on March 31.

The department says snow at the summit of Washington Pass measured almost 10 feet. Snow at the Liberty Bell avalanche chute averaged 35 feet deep.
