ISLE OF PALMS, S.C. (AP) - An almost 180-pound loggerhead sea turtle has been released on the South Carolina coast after a year of rehabilitation.
The South Carolina Aquarium on Monday released the juvenile the turtle named Huntington on the Isle of Palms. It was the first public turtle release of the season.
Huntington was seen floating and unable to dive off Huntington Beach State Park along the state’s north coast last May.
The turtle was brought to the Sea Turtle Hospital at the aquarium for treatment of low levels of protein, an intestinal blockage and anemia.
