BRUSHFORK, W.Va. (AP) - A Mercer County official says Flowers Baking Co. plans to sell its closed plant in Brushfork.
The plant ceased operations in 2011.
Mercer County Development Authority executive director Janet Bailey tells the Bluefield Daily Telegraph (https://bit.ly/1rZt4mg ) that there has been some interest in the building. She says all inquiries are going to a representative of the company’s parent, Flowers Bakery.
Bailey says she hopes someone will bring a company into the building that will create jobs in the county.
The plant employed 164 workers when it closed.
Two Flowers Bakery discount stores in Bluefield and Princeton remain open.
