LYNN, Mass. (AP) - A Boston man has been sentenced to 18 months in jail and ordered deported to Peru after pleading guilty to driving drunk and causing a fatal accident in Lynn.
Daniel Murillo-Robles pleaded guilty Monday to charges including motor vehicle homicide while operating under the influence in the October 2011 crash that killed 58-year-old Neil Buckley of Marblehead.
Prosecutors say the 23-year-old Murillo-Robles was driving to the beach with three friends when he crashed into Buckley’s van as the drummer was leaving a gig at the Lynn Yacht Club.
The Daily Item reports that Buckley was taken to a hospital with severe burns and died.
Authorities say Murillo-Robles, who was not in the U.S. legally, had a blood alcohol content nearly double the legal level to drive and he was speeding.
